Spectacular Spring for Shannon and Thiago

It is spring again in the mountains, and what better way to celebrate than to share an awesome wedding from June 2013. Our Canyons team worked with a fantastic couple from Chicago for this destination wedding. And, this was a real destination for many guests especially those one the groom’s side coming all way from Brazil. Those from the windy city and abroad were treated to a spectacular sunny day in Park City. Logan Walker from Pepper Nix Photography was onsite to capture all the spring magic.

We asked Shannon if she had any advice for future Red Pine brides. July Romance for Ben & Richelle

As soon as I saw the proofs from Ben and Richelle’s wedding from this past July, I knew I had to share these on our blog. I absolutely love how soft and romantic their details were. With the help of Harvest Moon, I think that they were really able to pull together something dreamy and rustic at the same time.  The look is very cool and unique, and shows a very tasteful way to  bring both male and female energy to this event design.

Another very cool aspect to this wedding was the food. Ben and Richelle wanted to meld their two cultures into their wedding menu, which featured a combination of Mexican inspired kosher dishes. As always, our Canyons Team was happy to get creative and design a spectacular menu with the couple.

Rustic Chic at Lookout Cabin

We had the pleasure of working with Park City locals, Erin and Damon, on their fall wedding at Lookout Cabin. Along with their 80 guests, they were treated to one of the most beautiful fall days all season. This wedding stands out in my mind as truly capturing the rustic chic style of a mountain wedding, with some Park City local flare.

The couple used some great DIY touches like their table numbers that were wood burned onto tree stumps, and then paired them with blue glass mason jars with softer roses and baby’s breath.  In keeping with the rustic theme, both the bride and bridesmaids wore cowboy boots with their dresses. Line dancing and s’mores around the fire pits finished off the evening. The juxtaposition of the rustic mountain touches with the softer more romantic colors and textures really define this trend.

We asked Erin after her wedding what her favorite part was. She told us, “To be honest the entire wedding was my favorite! From the ceremony to the dancing, the venue is so breath taking  everyone had such a good time. If I HAD to pick something I would say my most favorite part was the ride down in the bubble chair. Damon was holding little Daniel who was asleep. It was nice to finally get some time alone with my new husband and talk about the entire night!  The view at night is amazing especially with the full moon. It was a perfect time to decompress.

“Savor’s” Great Design Inspiration

For the past few years Park City Restuarant Association has coordinated an evening in June called Savor the Summit. The City will close Main St. to traffic, and each restaurant that participates can set one giant long table down the center of Main St. — the longest dining room table ever! This past summer our dear friends at Talisker on Main allowed us to participate in the design of their space. We invited Harvest Moon Events to help with the design as well, and the concept we came up with was an en blanc dinner. The tables were dressed in white, and guests were asked to wear white that evening. Each course served for the meal featured only one color, so that it would really pop against the white setting. Florals were done in an “urban rooftop garden” theme. Menus were printed with a custom wax stamp.

While this is not technically a wedding, I do think that this design concept lends itself perfectly to the summer wedding season.

A Spring Gruv Wedding for Lauren & Stuart

 I do not think you could plan a more fun wedding than Lauren and Stuart’s, which took place this past March over our annual Spring Gruv weekend here at the Resort. They touched on every note– brilliant bright colors, fun patterns, great DJ, surprise bag piper for the groom, shot-ski and to top it all off, the couple joined in the annual Canyons spring ritual of Pond Skimming.  Mother Nature even blessed this couple with a blanket of fresh Utah Powder for their ceremony at Red Pine Lodge. This was nothing short of a perfect spring ski season wedding, and Amy Lashelle Photography was on site to capture the whole day of activities  (and weather).

Winter Wedding Magic for Lisa and Ryan

Our Canyons Resort team was able to kick off our winter wedding season this year with this incredible destination event at Red Pine Lodge for Lisa and Ryan. The couple had such an artistic approach to their day. Lisa worked with Kasey Aune at Harvest Moon to pull together all of the tiny details that really made this event sparkle.

Based in Washington state, the couple elected to have a ski destination wedding this winter and celebrate the new year with eighty of their closest friends and family.  They also created some really unique memories at their event, with the Best Man playing the guitar for the bride and groom during their first dance, and the Bride feeding the groom a spoonful of creme brule (instead of cake) to celebrate their marriage.  They decorated the gondola car for their send off. This was really such a great example of how you can break the rules of weddings, and just do what makes you as a couple happy. It is your wedding, it should be what you want!

We asked Lisa what her favorite detail was for her wedding and she replied, “so many things were wonderful. The food really stands out in my mind. Most weddings have average food, but not ours. We didn’t get a chance to do a tasting so I had no idea what to expect. The food was outstanding, and plated beautifully, one of my favorites was the rocky mountain fondue.”  Guests were treated to a plated meal of Seared Chicken Breast with Lemon Bur Blanc and Parmesan Artichoke Risotto; Grilled Filet Mignon with Caremelized Shallot Demi Glace, and Buttermilk Yukon Gold Smashed Potatoes; our Signature Pomegranate Lemonade, and assorted pies and warm housemade apple crisp instead of tradtional wedding for dessert.

Lisa also had the following advice for future Canyons Brides. “Trust your planners. Bre was so amazing throughout the whole process. We also worked with Kasey Aune at Harvest Moon Events. They both worked so hard to make sure I got everything I wanted but still stayed in my budget. This was a destination wedding for us so I had to trust in my girls. They did an awesome job.”

Fall Elegance for Danielle and Wade

I am so excited to share Danielle and Wade’s wedding. The couple wed on Sept. 22nd this year and shared the most spectacular fall mountain day. When I met this young couple last January, they knew they wanted a wedding ceremony at Red Pine in the fall to really showcase the best of the season for their mostly out of town guests.  The guests were then treated to a cocktail hour on our Red Tail Restaurant deck, looking up at our world class resort and passed southwestern canapes. And, then, what had to be one of the best parties I saw of the year with a reception in the Grand Ballroom.  They had so many gorgeous fall hilighting details. Danielle picked shades of deep purple, rust and gold with leaves, branches and soft white flowers to pull the fall theme together. The Ballroom was electric with perfect lighting from Five Star AV, specially selected linen and chiavaris, and the best dance band in Utah.  But, what I remember most from this wedding was how incredibly happy and totally in love the bride and groom seemed. This had to be one of my most favorite weddings to have been a part of.  I will let the excellent images from photographer, Jessica Smith Parker of Jessica’s Photography, tell the rest of this love story.
